This is a film that reminds me of indie films of the mid 90s to mid 00s, the type that felt personal yet felt small in a home town setting. This is indeed a great film, with great acting, Casey Affleck is great here, and i can see why he is getting oscar attention for best actor. The film itself, while great, doesn't quite measure up to La La Land, but both are great contenders for the Oscars, neither are really Oscar Bait films either. Manchester may seem like it on paper, yet is more simple than that, not saying the film is simple, hell most Oscar bait films can be simple in the bad way, but this here, is a simple story told in a brilliant way.
